GOODNITE GUIDE
Which part of Brno will feel like yours?
Brno is compact, yet every neighbourhood moves at a different pace. Choose more than a point on a map: decide whether you want landmarks outside the door, the exhibition centre and brewery nearby, or a quieter return after a day in town.
Brno-střed
The city outside your door
Zelný trh, Starobrněnská, Mečová and the surrounding streets are ideal for a first visit and a car-free weekend. Petrov, the Old Town Hall, Špilberk, markets, cafés and evening venues are all within walking distance.
Best for: first visits, short city breaks, food, culture and anyone who wants to walk through most of their plans.
02
Hlinky, Zahradnická and Veletržní
Old Brno
BVV, the brewery and the river
Old Brno links the centre with the Brno Exhibition Centre. Hotel Botanica, Hotel Riverside and the Veletržní stays sit in this wider area. BVV is easy to reach, the Starobrno brewery is nearby and the new Svratka riverfront adds space for a morning run or evening walk.
Best for: fairs and conferences, business travel, drivers and guests who want the centre close without sleeping in its busiest streets.
Žabovřesky
Local rhythm without the tourist flow
Žabovřesky feels residential while frequent trams keep the centre close. Its cafés, shops and everyday pace make a longer stay feel more like living in Brno. Wilson Forest and routes towards the reservoir are nearby.
Best for: longer stays, families, remote work and guests who value quiet evenings with easy public transport.
Líšeň
Space, woods and slower mornings
Líšeň offers more room and an easy escape into nature. Mariánské Valley begins almost on the doorstep, while a direct tram still connects you with the centre. It works well when city plans should share the trip with walks, running or family time.
Best for: nature, families, longer stays and visitors comfortable with a longer but straightforward ride into town.
A SIMPLE CHOICE
The centre for an intensive Brno. Outer districts for room to breathe.
For one or two nights, choose Brno-střed. For BVV and business travel, Old Brno is the practical base. Consider Žabovřesky for a week or remote work, and Líšeň when nature should be part of the stay.
